Is your pool pump making strange noises or losing pressure? Learn the key warning signs that your pool pump needs professional repair in Paphos, Cyprus.
Why Your Pool Pump is the Heart of Your Pool
The pump is the most critical component of your pool's filtration system. Without a properly functioning pump, your water will quickly turn cloudy, green, and potentially unsafe. In Paphos, where pools run for 8–10 months of the year, pumps work especially hard.
Warning Signs Your Pump Needs Repair
1. Unusual Noises
If you hear grinding, screeching, or rattling from your pump housing, this typically indicates worn bearings. In Cyprus's dusty summer conditions, bearings can wear faster than in cooler climates.
2. Loss of Suction
If your pump is running but water flow has dropped noticeably, you may have:
- A blocked impeller
- Air leak in the suction line
- Clogged pump basket
3. Pump Won't Prime
This is common after the pool has been drained or after winter. Air in the system prevents the pump from drawing water. In Peyia and Coral Bay, this often happens after the pool season restart.
4. Leaking Water
Water around the pump motor is a serious sign. This could mean a failed mechanical seal — left untreated, it will destroy the motor.
5. Tripping the Circuit Breaker
If your pool pump keeps tripping the electrics, the motor may be overheating or drawing too much current. This is a safety issue and needs immediate attention.
